Look ma! no hands! My thoughts on MS: Kinect.0

So Microsoft announced “Project Natal” about 1 year ago, now known as Kinect it allows players to play games with no controllers using only your body as the controller itself.

I don’t know about you but this whole idea of no controls gaming seems a bit lame too me.

I don’t want to stand up and jump around like a complete lunatic to simply “jump” in a game such as Sonic, nor do I want to stand and tilt my body back and forth to accelerate and brake in racing games using my hands to turn the wheel like I’m 2 and pretending to drive listening to “Toot toot chugga chugga big red car” by The Wiggles. (No offense to 2 year olds).

Games should be something you relax with after work or school and chill out, not get invloved with by jumping around or flailing arms about like an Orangatang.

I actually like having buttons in my hand and having complete control of my games from the couch, call me lazy but I don’t care.

The Wii and Playstation Move at least have some buttons and an Analog stick to have precise control and don’t actually require you to move a great deal…. if you don’t want to, instead using simple hand gestures.

I guess it doesn’t matter what I think but we’ll have to wait and see if this new control method catches on or is just another fad that will end up in bargain bins everywhere come January next year.
