Blue 3DS Prototype Console.

Coming up to last week my life was going to be busy.

Not busy with actual life things.. oh no.. but busy with anticipation.

See.. this was the week where the world was to finally get a glimpse of Nintendo’s new little handheld dubbed the 3DS by many.

However what I was about to see and hear was far beyond what I have imagined.

Not only did The Big N tell us about the actual console but they blew everyone away with the software lineup they announced for the handheld.

More on the software later, now I’m going to go over some details on the hardware.

As expected this thing actually runs in stereoscopic 3D, much like new movies that are out right now, it has one major difference though…… YOU DON’T NEED GLASSES!!

Yep you read that right, see Nintendo have created a stereoscopic 3D screen without the need for glasses and it works….well.

The console also has a slider on the left hand side of the screen that can turn the 3D effect down, up and off completely.

You’ll notice on the console the main differences from the DSi are, Analog nub that works almost exactly like the PSP’s and the top screen is now wide-screen allowing better viewing of 3d games.

3d is the main factor here but something I know I was keen on hearing is weather or not this machine was going to be more powerful than the DSi in terms of Grunt and GFX, That’s a huge YES! because the 3DS is almost as powerful as the Wii in terms of power and it has to be to produce the 3D effects, so in quality of games GFX expect Gamecube to Wii…..AWESOME!!

I know right!! that’s an incredible line-up even if it’s just a list of franchises and nothing stable, it at least shows that these franchises are indeed in development in some form for the 3DS and that alone makes me excited (in the pants) for the console.

So what is the date?, what is the price? I WANT ONE NOW!!! I hear you ask (screaming loudly).

Well… shoosh for now, we don’t know. OKAY!!

Nintendo hasn’t given anything stable on price, date and availability just yet.

The only thing we know is the 3DS will be available sometime between now and April next year. I predict the price to be around $350 AUD.
