
To the movie lovers out there, Queensland Gallery of Modern Arts is having an exhibition of a collection of classic Sci-Fi films that envisions possible futures. They are showing old classics such as Metropolis, The Day the Earth Stood Still (org), 2001: A Space Odyssey to the recently released Wall-E.
I figured that everyone else is doing it, so why can’t I? That’s right it’s time for the traditional, end of year, best and worst movies of the last twelve months. I didn’t manage to see everything released this past year so these lists are just based on the movies I saw. So don’t freak out if your favourite is not on the list, it’s either because I still haven’t seen it or because you’re an idiot and you can’t tell the difference between a good movie and a Twilight sequel. Fellow Mac users probably would have noticed the recent software update giving you the Mac App Store. A dedicated browser to search for all Apple approved softwares for your Mac. Just like the iPhone/Pad/Pod app store, there’s Whats Hot, Categories, Featured, Top Paid/Free/Grossing etc.
First hearing about it I thought that’s a pretty good idea, and to me was one of the best things about the iPhone. I would browse around the store and download random apps to play and delete them almost straight after. But thinking about it I’m not sure if it’s such a good idea to do that on a computer.
Sorry about the delay. But considering a large portion of the city I live in is underwater, I think a one-day delay is pretty good. Well I promised it and here it is the bottom of the barrel for entertainment in 2010: Rowan’s “worst of” list. Now 2010 was not a very good year for movies all up, we got a handful of greats and a lot of meh. Businesswise a few of the really good movies did very poorly while many of the meh movies did well. I guess people are lowering their standards. But there were some definite duds and some definite disappointments so let’s get into it: [..]
