Fellow Mac users probably would have noticed the recent software update giving you the Mac App Store.  A dedicated browser to search for all Apple approved softwares for your Mac.  Just like the iPhone/Pad/Pod app store, there’s Whats Hot, Categories, Featured, Top Paid/Free/Grossing etc.

First hearing about it I thought that’s a pretty good idea, and to me was one of the best things about the iPhone.  I would browse around the store and download random apps to play and delete them almost straight after.  But thinking about it I’m not sure if it’s such a good idea to do that on a computer.

On my computer I install stuff because I need it, or because it’s something I intend on using.  I’m quite anal about keeping my Harddrive clean, and if I can keep my room my car as clean I’d be set!  The Mac App Store to me is a world of temptation to download needless and pointless apps just because I can, unawarely filling up my harddrive with hidden files, caches and useless productivity app to help me improve my ways of scheduling.

But in all it’s a great new feature, a new beginning to app finding.  And maybe the days of googling for hours, installing and uninstalling worthless apps to find exactly what you need could be over.  Next up is tackling 10 day free trial modes.
