Sorry everyone no big review this week. Kind of been caught up with other things like work and film shoots. So I haven’t had much time to watch movies, tv or play games. Okay that’s a lie but I haven’t had much time to write about it. However there is something big finally happening I should talk about. The end of an era. The dark lord himself finally been brought to justice. I think you all know what I’m talking about. No the last Harry Potter movie is still a few months away. I’m talking about the death of Osama Bin Laden. So, yes a shock I know. I’m actually talking about real world issues. Didn’t think I watched the news? Well I don’t but this is everywhere, it’s kind of hard to miss.
Osama Bin Laden is finally dead. I guess that means we can all leave Afghanistan now that we found him in Pakistan, oops. Okay I’m not going to get political on this, but it is kind of a big deal. It’s been ten years since September 11 and the US made it priority to capture him. Sure it took longer then the US court system but they finally captured him with two bullets to the head. Apparently President Obama and his chiefs watched the whole thing unfold live via troop helmet mounted cameras. That’s kind of cool but you have to wonder if he thought he was just playing Modern Warfare. I think we can all agree that he was an A grade douche-bag and the world is glad to be rid of him (Osama not Obama). So I don’t think that there is anything wrong with being somewhat uplifted by this news. So I’m going to do my part and make some tasteless jokes at Bin Laden’s expense. I guess we can look forward to a movie about it soon. If you ask me I think you should cast Chuck Norris as the US soldier who finally takes him down by stabbing him threw the heart with an American flag. But until that comes out I’m sure that Trey Parker and Matt Stone will have a new South Park episode about it with in the next two weeks. I’m serious, just wait and see, they’ll be all over that shit. Conveniently South Park only came back last week, it’s almost like they planned it that way…..almost. Also the Auto-Tune The News guys are due another big hit and this would be a great time to whip out a song about Osama climbing in your windows and snatching your bitches up.
Since Bin Laden hated the west and all things capitalist, I think this would be a great time to cash in on his image just to rub it in. Put his face on shirts, mugs, pencil cases, condoms and who wouldn’t at least like an Osama Bin Laden bobble-head? McDonald’s could release the McLaden meal. We’re nearly due another iPhone too, so there are lots of opportunities for Bin Laden centric apps (I’m sure these already exist). Or if you really want to piss off his followers a TV sitcom using Osama’s actual body Weekend At Bernie’s style. But according the the news networks his body was thrown overboard, so that won’t work. Um, so no body? Am I the only one worried that in a couple of days we’ll see another one of those annoying videos of Bin Laden holding up a news paper with the headline “Osama Bin Laden Dead”, then looking down the camera he just says, “psych!” I’d like to think that if he is really dead, that means we can bring back that long bearded look. Then again the Hitler mustache never recovered.
I just realized something. It almost never happens that when someone dies, you are not only allowed to be happy about it but are actually encouraged. There isn’t even beat where you’re supposed to feel bad. If someone comes up to you and says “did you hear? Bin Laden got shot in the head,” you are expected to answer, “that’s what you get for being an asshole.” It’s very refreshing. Back when Steve Irwin died, if someone said “did you hear? Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray,” there was noway you could say, “well, when you play with fire”. My point is it’s nice to openly enjoy the death of a celebrity and lets face it, that’s what Bin Laden was.
I think that’s all I have to say about that for now. It’s kind of nice to look away from the TV for a bit and see what’s happening in the real world, I should try it again sometime. Anyway back to movies next week. See you then.
